In Sauk County the full board approved placing the advisory referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot at their Tuesday, July 17 meeting by a vote of 21-4 with 5 abstentions. The county becomes the fourth county to do so after Milwaukee, Rock and Dane counties. Previously, the resolution proposal passed the board's Executive and Legislative Committee July 10 on a unanimous voice vote. Before the vote, board members passed an amendment 28-1 to change "prescribe" to recommend" in the proposed question.

Here is the question as it was approved by the Sauk County Board:

"Should the State of Wisconsin legalize medical marijuana so that people with debilitating medical conditions may access medical marijuana if they have a recommendation from a licensed Wisconsin physician?"

The Langlade County board's Executive Committee previously passed a referendum resolution July 10. The resolution went to the full board for consideration on July 17, which referred it to the Public Safety committee and the Langlade County Board of Health. The two will hold a joint meeting on August 1 at 10am in the County Board Room in the lower level of the Safety Building at 840 Clermont Street in Antigo. The proposed question is "Should the State of Wisconsin allow individuals with debilitating medical conditions to use and safely access marijuana for medical purposes, if those individuals have a written recommendation from a licensed Wisconsin physician?"

Also, the Kenosha County Board's Legislative committee debated an advisory referendum on Tuesday night (July 17), and voted to send it to the full board by a 4-3 margin. The board will vote on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 7:30 pm at the County Administration Building, Third Floor, 1010 56th St. Kenosha. The resolution sponsor requested the delay to Aug. 21, as they will be out of town.

The proposed question to be asked Kenosha County voters is "Should the State of Wisconsin allow individuals with debilitating medical conditions to use and safely access marijuana for medical purposes, if those individuals have a written recommendation from a licensed Wisconsin physician?"

Also on July 17, an attempt by supporters to get the cannabis advisory referendum proposal for Winnebago County reconsidered was unsuccessful and it appears the county will not have a cannabis referendum.

Three more county board's will also be voting this week:

On Wed. July 18 at 7pm, the Brown County Board will vote on a proposal to place two referendum questions, one for medical use and one for adult use, on the Nov. 6 ballot. Supporters are urged to attend the meeting at 100 N Jefferson St. in Green Bay. The board's executive committee voted July 9 with two members abstaining to send the proposal to the full board on a 3-2 vote.

On Thursday, July 19 the full La Crosse County Board is also voting on at 6pm at the Administrative Center 212 6th Street North La Crosse WI.

Also on Thursday, July 19, starting at 7pm, the Marathon County board is meeting at 500 Forest St. in Wausau for referendum vote, and once again, supporters are urged to attend.

Further down the road, Kevin Booth, a member of the Fond du Lac County board and candidate for State Assembly announced July 13 that an advisory referendum he drafted would be brought forward to the county at the August meeting.
