UPDATED 07/12/2018 7:44:14 AM: A record number of Wisconsin county boards continue to look at the possibility of cannabis legalization advisory referendums for the Nov. 6 ballot. With the Aug. 28 deadline for ballot access fast approaching, boards all over Wisconsin are meeting and debating the issue. Currently at least fourteen counties are working on these referendums as of this writing.

07/12/2018 7:41:21 AM In Walworth County, County Supervisor Charlene Staples' proposed advisory referendum was on the agenda of the board's Executive Committee at their Monday, July 16 meeting. But during a meeting on July 10 while Staples was out of town and not in attendance, board member Rick Stacey made a motion to "file" the proposed resolution and withdraw it from consideration. Other board members rallied behind Stacey's motion, and the board voted unanimously to scratch the resolution.
07/11/2018 4:57:57 PM Outagamie County makes 14! The Outagamie County Public Safety Committee voted to draft a resolution putting a cannabis advisory referendum on the Nov. ballot. On July 24, the committee will vote to potentially support that resolution and forward it to the full County Board for a vote.
Eau Claire County: The Leader Telegram reports that Eau Claire County Supervisor Gerald Wilkie is working with county attorney Keith Zehms to draft an advisory referendum on cannabis. The proposal will be heard by the Administration Committee, on Aug. 14, and could go to the County Board on Aug. 21. Eau Claire is now the 13th Wisconsin county to look at countywide advisory cannabis referendums.
Kenosha County: The Kenosha County Board's Legislative Committee will be debating a cannabis advisory referendum next week Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 6pm.
On Monday July 9, the Brown County Board's executive committee voted 3-2 with two members abstaining to forward a proposal to place two referendum questions, one for medical use and one for adult use, on the ballot. 23 of 24 citizens who testified were in favor, with the only member of the public speaking against was former Green Bay Alderman David Boyce, who reprised that tired prohibitionist refrain, "I believe the very best place to address this issue is at a state level." The full board will vote Wed. July 18 at 7pm at 100 N Jefferson St. in Green Bay.
In Langlade County, the board's Executive Committee passed a referendum resolution July 10 on a voice vote after a lengthy discussion, according to people who were present. The item now moves to the full board on July 17, which meets at 9am in the County Board Room in the lower level of the Safety Building at 840 Clermont Street in Antigo.
Also on July 10, the Sauk County Board's Executive and Legislative Committee met to consider adding a cannabis legalization referendum to other referendums already passed. According to the Sauk County Clerk's office, the referendum proposal passed committee unanimously on a voice vote and will be voted on the full board on Tuesday, July 17 at 6pm. The board will meet at 505 Broadway, Baraboo, Wisconsin Room 326 (third floor).
UPDATED 07/11/2018 3:10:48 PM: The referendum proposal was previously discussed by a committee of the St. Croix County board on Monday July 9. On Wednesday July 11, 2018 at 5pm, the cannabis advisory referendum will be before the St Croix County Health and Human Services Board. Meeting location: St Croix County Government Center 1101 Carmichael Rd # D208, Hudson The full St. Croix County Board votes on Tuesday, August 7 at 5pm at 1101 Carmichael Rd, Hudson, WI.
Milwaukee County and Rock County have already approved resolutions placing cannabis legalization questions on the ballot.
In Dane County, a proposed advisory referendum authored by Sup. Yogesh Chawla's will receive a vote by the full board on Thursday, July 12 after passing through committee in June. Supporters are urged to attend the full board meeting set for 7pm Thursday in Room 201, City-County Building 210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Madison, WI.
The cannabis advisory referendum proposal for Winnebago County will be reconsidered on Tuesday, July 17 at 6pm at 415 Jackson Street Oshkosh, WI.
The vote by the full board in Marathon County is scheduled for their meeting on Thursday, July 19 at 7pm at 500 Forest St. in Wausau.
The full La Crosse County Board is also voting on Thursday, July 19 at 6pm at the Administrative Center 212 6th Street North La Crosse WI .
