The Illinois House voted 66-47 after more than three hours of debate today to approve legalizing adult use cannabis. The Illinois Senate on Wednesday cleared the measure. And Gov. J. B. Pritzker says he will sign it. Here's a report from the Chicago Sun-Times: https://chicago.suntimes.com/cannabis/2019/5/31/18647398/high-time-legal...

I listened to much of the debate in the House leading up to the vote and and the testimony from opponents had a certain sameness. It's the same tired rehashed rhetoric, whether its a city council, county board or state or federal legislatively body. Colorado this, Colorado that. Driving under the influence, schizophrenia, violence, what about the children?

But both houses of the Illinois legislature came through. This was much smoother than the passage of medical cannabis in Illinois six years ago.

The law takes effect January 2020. Existing medical dispensaries will likely be able to serve adult use cannabis consumers until a more robust system is created. Millions of Wisconsinites live within easy driving distance of Illinois. That millions of dollars and thousands of jobs waving bye-bye.

I just leave this video here:
